GOG, Epic Games & Amazon Multi-Store Integration

Enable the Stores rail to sign in to GOG, Epic Games, and Amazon, auto-import titles into Steam, and sync cloud saves.

DroidDeck 0.4.0 introduces the Stores module, a built-in multi-store aggregation engine. Previously, enjoying games purchased from storefronts outside of Steam required downloading offline installers on a desktop PC, transferring massive directories over slow cables, and configuring paths by hand.

With the Stores module, you can authenticate directly with GOG, Epic Games, and Amazon Prime Games on your Android device. DroidDeck handles background downloads, generates native Steam shortcuts, fetches high-resolution grid artwork, and synchronizes cloud saves seamlessly.

Architecture: How Stores Integration Works

Rather than acting as a simple web browser wrapper, DroidDeck's Stores module integrates open-source authentication and content delivery engines directly inside the Linux container:

1. Local Sandboxing & Security

  • Open Protocol Standards: Built upon proven open-source implementations (such as Legendary CLI, Heroic authentication standards, and official GOG APIs) optimized for mobile Android runtimes.
  • Strict Local Credential Isolation: Account authentication tokens and cookies reside exclusively within the application's private Android sandbox. Your passwords and credentials are never routed through intermediary servers.

2. Automated Pipeline

When you select and install a game from the Stores hub, DroidDeck executes a fully automated pipeline:

  1. Downloads chunked files from official store CDNs via multi-threaded HTTP streams.
  2. Extracts and verifies binaries into your designated game storage path.
  3. Parses the main executable (.exe) and writes an entry into Valve Steam's shortcuts.vdf.
  4. Queries SteamGridDB to fetch and bind matching high-resolution capsule covers, wide heroes, and transparent logos.
  5. Links the game to the default DroidDeck-Proton compatibility runner.

Enabling the Stores Navigation Rail

To maintain a streamlined home interface, the Stores module is tucked away by default. Enable it with these simple steps:

1. Access Settings

  1. Launch DroidDeck and tap the Setup (gear icon) in the navigation header or sidebar.
  2. Select Stores in the configuration menu.

2. Enable Rail Visibility

  1. In the Stores configuration tab, toggle Show Stores in the rail.
  2. Save changes and return to the main dashboard. A dedicated Stores tab will now appear on your left navigation rail.

Store Authentication & Account Linking

Navigate to the Stores tab to access the multi-store portal. Three primary platform tabs are available across the top:

1. GOG Account Linking (DRM-Free Library)

  • Advantages: GOG titles are entirely DRM-free, delivering optimal runtime performance with zero background licensing checks.
  • Sign-In Flow: Click Sign in under the GOG tab. Enter your GOG credentials and two-factor authentication (2FA) verification code to load your library.

2. Epic Games Account Linking (Weekly Free Library)

  • Sign-In Flow: Click Sign in under the Epic Games tab.
  • OAuth Authentication: DroidDeck launches Epic's official secure login portal. Upon authorization, DroidDeck captures the secure access token, populating your Epic Games catalog immediately.

3. Amazon Prime Games Linking

  • Log in to your Amazon account to view and download monthly free PC games included with your Amazon Prime subscription.

Storage Path Configuration & Download Management

Before downloading 3A games that consume tens of gigabytes, configure your download directory:

1. Internal Storage vs MicroSD Card

  • Internal Storage Path: Default games are stored in the application's internal container directory:
    text
    /home/droiddeck/Games/

This offers the lowest I/O latency, making it ideal for games with heavy dynamic streaming.
  • External MicroSD Card: On handhelds like the Ayn Odin 2, open Stores Settings and point the download root to your external MicroSD card path (e.g., /storage/XXXX-XXXX/PCGames/).

2. Downloader Optimizations

  • Concurrent Connections: In Stores Settings, configure parallel download threads (between 4 and 8) to maximize Wi-Fi throughput.
  • Resumable Downloads: Downloads can be paused and resumed at any point without data corruption.

Automatic Steam Shortcut & Artwork Integration

Once a download finishes, DroidDeck finishes the onboarding automatically:

1. Steam Library Integration

You do not need to enter Desktop Mode to click "Add a Non-Steam Game." The executable is registered automatically. When you boot into Steam Big Picture, your newly installed game appears alongside your native Steam library.

2. SteamGridDB Cover Art

DroidDeck automatically retrieves and assigns four graphic assets:

  • Capsule Cover: Vertical poster displayed in the main grid view.
  • Wide Hero: Cinematic banner showcased across the top of the game page.
  • Transparent Logo: High-resolution PNG logo overlaying the hero banner.
  • Square Icon: Compact icon used in notification badges and quick menus.

Cloud Save Synchronization (GOG & Epic)

For supported titles across GOG and Epic Games:

1. Synchronization Behavior

  • Pre-Launch Pull: Prior to game execution, Stores compares local and remote save timestamps, pulling newer saves from the cloud automatically.
  • Post-Game Push: Once the game process terminates in Steam, changed save files are packaged and uploaded back to the official cloud servers.

2. Cross-Device Continuity

You can progress through a campaign on your desktop gaming PC at home, pick up your Android handheld, and continue playing the exact same save file on DroidDeck without manual file copying.

Troubleshooting Common Store Issues

1. Cloudflare Captcha Loops During Epic Sign-In

  • Cause: Network latency or stale embedded webview cookies.
  • Fix: Clear the internal cache in DroidDeck Settings -> Advanced, or verify your DNS connection before re-authenticating.

2. Game Fails to Launch Due to Missing Visual C++ Runtimes

  • Fix: Open DroidDeck's built-in Tools utility and select Install DirectX & VC++ Redists to install universal Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables into the shared container prefix.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: Where are games installed from Stores located, and can I transfer them to a desktop PC?

By default, games are installed to /home/droiddeck/Games/<GameTitle>. Because GOG and most Epic Games installations are extracted into clean Windows PC directory structures, you can copy the folder to a desktop PC via Dolphin or USB cable and run it immediately.

Q2: Does the Epic Games session expire frequently, requiring repeated logins?

No. DroidDeck encrypts and stores the OAuth Refresh Token in its secure local sandbox. Each time the Stores daemon initiates, it silently refreshes the session token in the background. Your sign-in remains active for months unless you explicitly invalidate active sessions from your Epic account dashboard.

Q3: Why does a GOG installation progress bar stay at 0% after clicking install?

This usually stems from transient CDN routing latency between your network and GOG's distributed storage endpoints. Navigate to DroidDeck Settings -> Stores -> change the CDN mirror from automatic to a designated region, or pause and resume the download to re-establish connections.
